Classic mens 1950's fashion was mostly a very simple look, grey, charcoal or dark blue single breasted suits and plain coloured tie. Men nearly always wore a hat and most gentleman wore an overcoat. Tweed or check jackets and blazers worn with non-matching trousers were also very popular for casual wear.  Mens 1950's fashions for the younger generation were influenced by American icons, such as Elvis, Marlon Brando etc who wore leather jackets and jeans. The 1950's Teddy Boys, who wore pointed shoes, tight drainpipe trousers and long jackets often with velvet trim were also gaining popularity with the young trendy teenagers.
