1920s Mens Vintage Clothing
Mens vintage clothing, vintage suits & accessories from and in the style of the 1920s.
Throughout the 1920's men wore short suit jackets, and long jackets ( morning suits and evening tail-coats) being used for formal occasions. During the early twenties, men's fashion was characterized by high waisted trousers, the lapels on suit jackets were not very wide as they tended to be buttoned up high. (This style of suit jacket was greatly influenced by the uniforms worn by the military during the First World War.) The trousers were relatively narrow and straight (not tapered) and they were worn rather short so that a man's socks often showed. Trousers also began to be worn cuffed ( turn-ups) at the bottom at this time.
By 1925 wider leg trousers commonly known as "Oxford bags" came into fashion, while suit jackets tended to have wider peaked lapels. During the later half of the 1920s double breasted waistcoats /vests were in fashion and were often worn with a single breasted suit jacket.
